The 3v3 Super Soccer Shootout is now one of the largest single weekend 3v3 soccer tournaments in the United States. Make your plans now, to join 200+ teams for an unforgettable soccer experience May 19 (Girls) and May 20 (Boys), 2012. All games are played in the heart of beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Field Layout: Vendor Area and Field Layout.

Divisions:
Competitive: U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, and U16 Boys and Girls
Recreational: U6 Coed, U7 Boys and Girls

Girls Competition is a one day tournament beginning at 8:00 AM on Saturday, May 19, 2012.

Boys and U6 Coed Competition is a one day tournament beginning at 8:00 AM on Sunday, May 20, 2012.

Each team plays a minimum of 3 full games, competing for trophies awarded for 1st and 2nd place in each division for each player on the team.

Every player takes home a Tournament T-Shirt.

Lots of food and fun for the whole family is available on-site. There are many great accommodations & attractions nearby.

3v3 Coaching Tips & Strategies

Whether you are a first-time or veteran coach, here are some tips and resources that will help you prepare your team to compete in the fun and fast-paced atmosphere of 3v3.

POSITIONING – Explain positions on the 3v3 field; keep one back defensively for counter attacks, have one move high for an outlet pass when your team wins possession, but don’t designate those responsibilities to specific players. Simply explain that there needs to be someone there.

The beauty and excitement of 3v3 is the constant movement and interaction; a player starts the game as a defender or forward but should constantly be finding himself or herself in other positions.

OFFENSE – Put an emphasis on shooting when within shooting distance. Take opportunities as they are given to you. The purpose of passing the ball around on offense is to catch a defender out of their goal-side positioning. It’s not 11v11. Scoring is high and possession changes are frequent, so don’t be afraid to lose possession from taking a high percentage shot.

DEFENSE – Each player should be in goal-side positioning. There are no goalies, but there is a marked area around the goal players cannot cross. With that in mind, naturally the first step in preventing a goal should be positioning the 1^st defender directly between the goal and the offensive player in possession of the ball. The other players should provide some sort of cover in case the first player gets beat. The faster defensive players can transition to pick up marks, goal-side defense, and balance cover, the less chance there is of them being score on.

ATTITUDE – Attitude plays an enormous factor in 3v3. It’s important to stay positive and work hard at all times. Because of the nature of the game, comebacks are more likely than not. With a high work rate a 3 goal deficit can quickly become a tie game or turned around into a lead. This is especially important to remember when talking to players on the bench and at halftime. Remember as the game continues players will get tired, making teams more mistake prone and goals more likely.

3v3: The Essence of Youth Soccer

Fast moving. High scoring. Strategic and a lot of fun for all involved. 3v3 has got it all…

Soccer, the most popular game in the world, is just now coming of age in the U.S. In nations across the globe, kids get together in lots and on narrow streets to play small sided games, much the way we play pickup basketball games and backyard football in America. These small-sided games enhance the players’ sense of the game and creativity. They naturally learn how to work successful combination passes in tight spaces.

While spontaneous street soccer games don’t happen as often in the U.S.,

here because the sport isn’t as popular. Soccer in America has made great strides in popularity and opportunity over the past decade, but we have yet to find our soccer identity through style of play the way most other countries have. We are not yet at the point where we can get a group of neighbors together to play a backyard pickup soccer game the way there are pickup basketball games and backyard football games. I believe as we progress into that stage we will begin to evolve into a creative, unpredictable soccer nation.

As a player- All soccer players want to compete, score goals, win games and have fun. The Super Soccer Shootout can guarantee you lots of fun and competition, however scoring goals and winning games is up to you!

Developmentally

Players learn to use their skills in a different setting- often times we only play one or two different positions in full field soccer, 3v3 requires them to do and use everything. Attack and defend in transition, create combinations, make runs, possess the ball, defend players and spaces.

Game comes at you faster, forces quick play

Typical role players on full sided teams learn to be impact players
-Lots of touches/passing
-Develops quickness mentally
-No place to hide… a player on the field is actively defending or attacking at all times
-Develop tactical awareness in 2 and 3 man combinations
-Constant marking practice
-Team can practice on smaller field. More places to practice/play

For the Parents- Whether you’re an aspiring first time coach or the average soccer enthusiast, The Super Soccer Shootout is a great tournament which allows you to get or feel involved with the team. With smaller fields you are constantly close to the action.
